OUR APPROACH
We enable youth to imagine and build climate-resilient futures through the design of tools, programs, and spaces. Our approach to the design of these opportunities and the partnerships we embark on to create these efforts is shaped by the philosophy of Radical Collaboration. These are outlined in the following six principles:
Youth-first
We prioritize collaborations that focus on the needs and efforts of youth as they build just, climate-resilient futures.
Creative
We seek partners who are excited about experimenting with new approaches and are willing to think beyond the status quo. Complex, ambiguous problems often require unusual solutions!
Inclusive
YCL seeks to think beyond ourselves by acknowledging and working through systemic biases. We work with intention to thoughtfully welcome people from all walks of life into historically difficult to access climate spaces.
Disruptive
We aim to work with partners who are willing to make radical changes when necessary to secure a just and climate resilient future.
Catalytic
Our partnerships are intended to amplify strong, existing initiatives or spark new and unique programs. It is thus a necessity for our team that our resources are used as effectively as possible so that efforts aren’t doubled in the climate space.
Equitable
We recognize our privilege and seek to leverage our positionality to support and amplify the voices and solutions of youth, particularly youth of under-represented identities, on the frontlines of climate change.
