History
Youth Climate Lab (YCL) was founded in 2017 by Ana F. Gonzalez Guerrero and Dominique Souris as a response to the absence of opportunities, spaces and resources for young people to take ownership of the climate crisis. They envisioned a world where young people - no matter who they are or where they are from - were supported to catalyze local and global action rooted in climate justice.
This is accomplished through:
the development of tools (which are added to our digital open access toolbox)
facilitation of spaces through our Activate Youth service
the creation of programs.
While the youth climate landscape has changed dramatically since 2017, youth-led climate solutions are still critically under-supported and under-valued (receiving only 0.76% of climate philanthropy).
The YCL team continues to endeavour towards an equitable, climate just future for everyone that also allows youth to feel a sense of ownership.
